Good Intentions

I had all intentions of making this blog presentable and then life took over and on my "to-do" list it kept getting pushed to the bottom. I'm not making any promises but one day this week I am going to sit down and get it done!

I have a younger brother and he and his wife have three wonderful daughters!!! He still lives in my hometown which is about an hour away, so on Thursday the girls were out of school (because of RAIN- and lots of it) and I needed a niece "fix" so I drove down to visit. My nieces are so much fun and they are such ladies, their ages are 12, 9 and 3. We played everything from Wii to baby dolls and had a wonderful visit.

While I was at my brother's I got a phone call from one of my Mom's best friends inviting me to join them for dinner. These 6 ladies have been bff's since they were in the first grade and they call themselves the "Sisters". They try to go on at least one vacation together each year and during holidays when they are all in town they get together to catch up on life. I was so grateful that they invited me, since my Mom was the first of the "Sisters" to pass away. These 5 ladies have been my prayer warriors and my shoulders to cry on this past year. My Mother was so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of friends!!!! The visit with the "Sisters" was so bittersweet, I cried the whole hour home. . . I MISS MY MOM SO MUCH!!!

Yesterday was ML's Birthday and I cooked his favorite meal or Roast Beef with potatoes and carrots, broccolli, and cornbread. We didn't really do anything special but spend the day together.

I will upload pictures of my weekend events as soon as I figure out how to do it. Remember I am new at this!!!!

Changes. . .

Happy New Year!

I have been really lazy the past few days but, as of today that is going to change!!!

My first task - This Blog. Please be patient with me during these changes since I am new to all this. The next time you visit you will see a blog with personality!!!

I also need to take pictures for my Etsy shop and get that ball rolling too!! I took pictures last week but used the wrong pixel size. It's hard to sell something if you don't list it.

So, I'm going to get started on this to do list of mine and hoping I can mark off a lot of things.

Pity Party

I promise I did not start this blog to have Pity Parties but I am PMS and have cried all day.

I lost my Mom on 1/20/08 and Christmas was so hard without her, everyday is hard without her, but add the holidays to the mix and it is super hard. I got up this morning as ML (My Love, for future reference) did at 5:00 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep, my mind would just race from one thing to another, and I have yet to stop and haven't accomplished a thing. Me and ML use to work together but I got laid off in October and this is the first time in my life that I have not had a job. I always valued myself by my work and now that I don't have a job my value isn't much. Like I said, a Pity Party.

I promise I'll post something upbeat and creative (which normally I'm all about) and link to my Etsy shop so you can see the creative side of How Nice but I need to just wallow in it for awhile.

In The Beginning

So, here it goes!

I have been wanting to start our own little blog, but just never took the time to set it up. One of my many New Years resolutions was to do just that and I'm even getting a jump start on 2009 by what? Four Days? I'm impressed that I can already mark something off my list!!!

I will have to explain how I got the name of our blog, but that is for another post.
